Mega Volcano Discovered
Discovered recently, it is part of the Shatsky Rise, a deep plateau in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan about 1600 km east. This volcano is the size of Britain and Ireland together. It can be compared to the other mega volcanoes of the solar system. It's depth is 30 km into the earth's crust. It has deep roots. It is identified by the name Tamu Massif. Nature Geoscience.
It is speculated that it formed during the Cretaceous Period 145-65 million years ago.
